SAN BLAS ARCHIPIELAGO

The most beautiful place in Panama is located along the Caribbean Coast: the 365 islands are truly islands from postcard with white sand beaches, coconut trees and turquoise waters. Still consider circumnavigate the archipelago of San Blas as one of the top 3 destinations in the world.

Established in 1938 as an autonomous Indian territory, land and marine park of Kuna Yala offer many treasures on earth and sea. On mainland, the Cordillera of San Blas "is built on this wonderful paradise, untapped, untouched and relatively unknown.
The Kuna Indians inhabit the islands in the same way their ancestors did: negotiating and coconut, crabs, lobsters and castanets, on board of their wooden canoes carved by themselves, called "Cayucos.




Most of the communities speak only the ancient Indian language, and women continue to use the traditional dresses in orange and yellow, highlighted with the world famous "mola", a model with colored drawings of fish, birds, jungle animals or geometric designs


Only about one tenth Of the 365 islands, are inhabited, the rest of the islands are uninhabited. The archipelago of San Blas is a destination where you stop navigation: sailboats sail usually from 1 to 3 hours per day, and after tat either you visit the island or go snorkeling or swiming.

KUNA INDIGENOUS

The houses are huts with bamboo or wooden roof of palms: they are built throughout the community in a couple of days. The bathrooms are located in a special hut built on the sea with a "natural " escape. Kuna Indians sleep in hammocks.
The Kuna are a matriarchal society, the money is a matter of women. A family (always monogamous) usually with many children, some go to school (every village has its school) some others don't or live too far from the village.





Established in 1938 as an autonomous territory of the Kuna, the marine park of Kuna Yala offers treasures both on land and at sea.



Navigation in San Blas Yacht Sailing

Saturday: Reception of passengers at the airport in Panama City, transfer to Canal Yacht Club, Colon. Welcome cocktail on board.

Sunday: Navigation to Portobelo. Overnight at the bay.

Monday: Sailing to San Blas.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday: Sailing by the islands of the archipelago with several stops at different beaches, as chosen by the passenger. Accommodation on board.

Friday: Sailing from San Blas back to Colon, Panama Canal Yacht Club. Overnight on board or transfer to Panama City.
Saturday: In the morning transfer to Panama City for those who stay overnight at the Halcyon.
