Nazca is located two hours from Ica and its incredible lines, that trace several figures of animals, birds and deities, the desert covers an area over 450 km2. It is something divine to look at and has become a global attraction.
The artistic expression of the most famous Nazca geoglyphs are huge drawings on the desert tracks located north of the Cawachi settlement. They are represented anthropomorphic figures, zoomorphic and fitomorphic, along with kilometers long lines , all made with a precision that still astonishes the world. We do not know the true meaning of these figures, most of which can be best appreciated from the air.
One major hypothesis suggests that the site was an astronomical observatory, while another could be postulated that it was a large ceremonial center. The pottery, for its part, emphasizes the quality of the pots, the complex representations how they were painted on their surfaces, and especially by the great variety of colors with pieces that have up to six or seven colors.
The rituals and ceremonies of the magic-religious Nasca were led by a priestly caste that sought to strengthen the relationship between humans and their gods. Probably during the ceremonies shaman ( human representative of god )drank an hallucinogenic liquid, made with a cactus type, Huachuma or San Pedro, allowing them to exalt their state of consciousness.
Cahuachi City is located 20 km west of the city of Nasca, on the left bank of the river of the same name, and occupies an area of 150 ha where ancient nasquenses built over 100 pyramids of various sizes, with ceremonial plazas and multi-sites.
One of the most imposing buildings in the city of Cahuachi is the "Great Pyramid", with 110 meters long, 90 mts width and 28 mts height and consists of 7 staggered platforms. In the "Great Pyramid" archaeologists found a deposit of 200 textiles, including some hand-painted, which is a rarity in the Nasca culture because so far they where only known by embroidery textiles .
